Free Stuff to do on the Fraser Coast

  • WetSide is a FREE water eduction park with interactive slides and water features for all ages. The park includes WetSide Coffee Shop for cafĂ©-style food, a special area for under 5s called TotSide and the FlipSide BoardRider wave machine (tickets are $5 from the Coffee Shop). On Friday and Saturday nights the park comes alive with a light show, approximately 30 minutes after sunset.
  • Hervey Bay has a fantastic seafront with family friendly beaches, stretching over 10 kilometres. There are alo great parks and foreshore recreation areas with amazing views of the bay and Fraser Island. Throughout the Fraser Coast there are over 800 parks, gardens, playgrounds and recreational areas. Below are just a few of the popular spots in Hervey Bay. Most parks have beach access as well as facilities and/or beach shower, tables, chairs and BBQ facilities.

  • Esa Park and turtle Rookery - On the Esplanade Between Flinders and Alpin St Pt Vernon
  • Ernie Organ(train park) - Opposite Macks Rd on the Esplanade Torquay

  • Pines Park- Beach Rd & Esplanade Pialba
  • Quota Park- Esplanade opposite Robert St Torquay
  • Scarness Foreshore Park- Opposite Queens Rd on the Esplanade Scarness
  • The Botanic Gardens are a cool relaxing spot to visit, have a picnic or watch the bird life. With a collection of around 20,000 orchids in the Orchid House, walks and ponds you could make a day of this outing on your visit.
  • The Marina located at the end of Boat Harbour Drive, Urangan is a great place to spend a few hours browsing the quaint shops, having a coffee, or ice cream and watching the boats arrive and depart on their various tours and trips. On Fridays from 4pm-8pm the Marina Markets come alive with live music a jumping castle and various stalls.
  • At the end of the Esplanade you'll find the Lions Park which leads you to the Urangan Pier. The Pier, originally a deep water cargo handling facility, is around 868 metres in length. This is a great fishing and photography spot, or just a nice stroll, out to sea. The views back from the end of the pier are beautiful.
